weekend track car? I've driven a '94 (IIRC) MR2 and obviously a Miata on track, and if I had both in a garage, I would pick the Miata over the MR2 for an HPDE. It's cheaper, far more common (read: easier to replace if wrapped up), parts are generally cheaper/easier to come by, the motor/suspension/platform is much more documented (from what I've seen - I've been looking into the 94-ish MR2 for awhile now), etc. Even a tiny bit of gutting with a low non-intercooled turbo setup on the Miata, forget it. But yes, if I had both in my garage, I would drive the MR2 on the street way before I took the Miata out.
